Dermatitis trial results

A randomized study of 50 post-lumpectomy patients undergoing hypofractionated whole-breast radiation found that PEMF plus standard skin care accelerated recovery from acute radiodermatitis compared with skin care alone.

By eight weeks, 52% of the PEMF group returned to grade zero skin reactions versus 8% in controls, according to results in Supportive Care in Cancer. Ultrasound thickness measures also returned nearer baseline in the treated cohort.
