InfoHandle Network (“InfoHandle,” “we,” “us”) publishes journalism at infohandle.net. This policy describes the limited information involved in visiting that site.

Who we are

The website address is https://infohandle.net. For privacy questions, write to editor@infohandle.net.

What this site collects

You do not need an account to read InfoHandle. There is no paywall. If you choose Sign in, we send you to Endevre ID at id.endevre.com. After you authenticate there, we keep a session on this site so we can remember you for features such as games and scores. Comments are not live yet.

Endevre ID stores your login (email, name, and similar account fields). InfoHandle keeps session cookies on this site so you stay signed in. Later features such as scores will store a local record keyed by that identity. We do not use the account to serve ads. If you set an edition or language on the manage account page, that choice is stored in this browser so it can apply the next time you sign in here.

The footer may include a Daily Update signup. If you subscribe, you send your email address to the newsletter provider named on that form (Beehiiv or Buttondown). They store the address in order to send the morning briefing. We use it only for that newsletter. You can unsubscribe from any email, or write to editor@infohandle.net.

Like most websites, our hosting provider may keep ordinary server logs for security and operations. Those logs can include your IP address, browser type, the pages requested, and the time of the request. We do not use those logs to build marketing profiles.

InfoHandle Local

When automatic IP lookup is enabled, if you have not chosen an area or granted device location access, Local asks IPWhois for an approximate city and area based on your internet connection. Your browser connects directly to that service, which receives your IP address. We request only the area name and approximate coordinates, and do not save your raw IP address for this feature. The approximate area is cached in this tab’s session storage and reused for up to ten minutes. You can change it by choosing a city or ZIP or using device location.

Local can use your device location with your permission to find nearby updates. We keep the current device coordinates in page memory rather than saving them to your account. Weather requests send an approximate location, rounded to two decimal places, through our server to the National Weather Service. Ordinary server logs may contain those request parameters. City and ZIP searches use a directory on this site and are matched in your browser. We remember your selected city or ZIP, or your choice to use device location, in browser storage.

When you sign in and follow an area, we store the selected area center, radius and topic preferences under your Endevre ID so they work across devices. Areas followed from device location use an approximate center rounded to two decimal places, as do areas estimated from your IP address. You can remove followed places and topics from the Following view. We do not save a history of your device movements.

Community reports require sign-in. We store the report text, approximate area, time, source link, review status and account ID. Reports are private while pending or held. Approved text and approximate locations become public, with a community label; your account ID and login details remain private. You can withdraw a report from Your reports. We retain submission and review records for moderation and abuse prevention. Automated review sends report text, area name, time and any source link to our configured AI provider; we do not send your account ID, email, login credentials or precise device coordinates.

Fonts and third parties

Edition selection also uses IPWhois to estimate your country. Local and edition selection share the same browser request. We request country and approximate area information without the raw IP field and do not save a raw IP address for these features.

Pages load typefaces from Google Fonts. When your browser requests those files, Google may receive technical data such as your IP address. Google’s policies are published by Google, not by InfoHandle.

Language translation

We offer optional machine translation via GTranslate. If you choose a language other than English, your browser may send the text on the page to GTranslate and its translation providers so the page can be displayed in that language. That service may use cookies (such as googtrans) to remember your choice.

Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics to understand which stories are read and how readers use the site. Google processes that data under Google’s privacy policy. Typical information includes the pages you view, referring site, approximate location derived from IP address, browser and device type, and whether you have visited before. We configure analytics with IP anonymization where Google provides it.

We do not use Analytics to serve ads. We do not send names or email addresses to Google. Newsletter signups go to the email provider, not to Analytics.

Cookies

Google Analytics may set cookies such as _ga so return visits can be counted. We do not set advertising cookies of our own. See the cookie notice for details and how to opt out.

Embedded media

Some stories include images hosted on this site. We do not sell personal information. Article comments are not offered yet; when they are, we will collect the comment text and the Endevre ID of the person who posted it.

Children

The site is a general-interest news publication. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes

If this policy changes, we will update this page and the date at the top.
