Largan Precision’s third-quarter briefing on Oct. 8 will set the opening bid for how Taiwan’s optics supply chain prices iPhone 17 camera upgrades, two weeks before Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. hosts its own earnings call that foreign banks are already anchoring with average price targets above NT$3,300.

Fund managers said they will compare Largan’s gross margin guidance with commentary from Genius Electronic Optical and Asia Optical later in the month to see whether ASP strength is broad-based or confined to Apple-exclusive designs.

Why optics lead the week

The Economic Daily News reported that Largan kicks off a crowded October earnings window that includes Nanya Technology on Oct. 12 and TSMC on Oct. 15. Brokers expect TSMC to post third-quarter EPS between NT$28.5 and NT$30, while September revenue could approach NT$520 billion if advanced-node shipments track Apple and Nvidia server builds.

For Largan, the market debate is average selling price: whether periscope and folded telephoto lenses for the latest iPhone cycle carry enough premium to offset any mix shift toward lower-end models in emerging markets. SETN iNEWS noted that foreign institutions have kept wide target ranges on TSMC — NT$2,700 to NT$4,200 — but apply similar ASP sensitivity to lens makers because both revenue streams hinge on the same handset launch calendar.

Supply-chain signals

Component distributors in Taoyuan said lens module lead times remain extended for flagship tiers, while older-generation glass is clearing inventory through Android makers in India and Southeast Asia. That split encourages bulls to argue Largan can hold margins on Apple-exclusive designs even if unit growth moderates.

Bears counter that any delay in China consumption data or a stronger U.S. dollar could pressure converters to negotiate quarterly price cuts. Largan’s management historically offers little forward guidance beyond shipment tone, so investors will parse gross-margin commentary and capital expenditure hints for 2027 capacity.

Peer read-through

Smaller Hsinchu optics vendors typically move in sympathy with Largan’s post-call reaction. Analysts will compare Largan’s remarks with AUO’s Friday foreign inflows — panel liquidity sometimes front-runs lens sentiment when funds rotate within the Apple bill of materials.

TSMC’s later call will dominate index weighting, but Largan remains the earliest hard data point on whether Apple’s latest camera stack pays enough to keep Taiwan’s precision-glass fabs fully loaded through Lunar New Year.
