Kent Police launched a manhunt on Thursday morning after three people were stabbed at a property on Sevenoaks Road in Borough Green, a village between Sevenoaks and Tonbridge. Armed officers were deployed to the address around 7.40 a.m. following reports of a domestic incident, and a National Police Air Service helicopter joined the search for a suspect who left before units arrived.
Who was hurt
Force spokespeople said one man was taken to a London hospital with life-threatening injuries. A second man was treated at a local hospital, and a woman suffered minor wounds to her arm. Police have not named any of the injured or released ages, citing the active inquiry and family-notification work still under way.
Medics and armed officers secured the property while detectives began tracing movements in and out of the semi-rural lane, which connects commuter villages to the A25. Councillor Mike Taylor, who represents Tonbridge and Malling Borough Council, told the BBC that serious violence is unusual in the area, where complaints more often involve traffic and low-level antisocial behaviour.
Scene and cordons
By mid-morning at least six police vehicles blocked Sevenoaks Road between the Western Road roundabout and Rock Road. Crime-scene investigators in white forensic suits arrived around 11.10 a.m., photographing doorways and pavement areas while residents were turned away from nearby footpaths.
Neighbours described hearing sirens before dawn rush hour and seeing the police helicopter circling woodland to the north of the village. Kent Police asked anyone with doorbell, dashcam or mobile footage from the early morning to contact investigators, stressing that even partial vehicle descriptions could narrow the search.
What police have not said
Officers have not confirmed a relationship between the victims and any suspect, though the initial call was logged as domestic. No charges have been announced and no weapon has been described publicly. Kent Police’s major crime teams routinely take primacy when life-threatening stabbings occur inside homes, but the force has not yet labeled the inquiry as murder attempted murder, pending clinical updates from the London hospital.
Because armed units attended, the incident will also be reviewed by internal firearms monitors to confirm deployment met national guidance. That review runs parallel to any criminal case and does not imply wrongdoing by officers.
Community impact
Borough Green’s primary school and commuter rail links continued operating, but parents reported anxiety at pick-up time with helicopters still audible. Local churches and village halls often serve as contact points in Kent manhunts; on Thursday volunteers said they were directing worried residents to the force’s online updates rather than speculating on social media.
Taylor urged residents to follow police instructions at cordons, noting that semi-rural lanes can tempt onlookers to block emergency access. Kent Police said additional patrols would remain visible while the suspect search continues.
What happens next
Detectives will prioritize locating the outstanding person, securing any weapon, and obtaining accounts from the injured as their conditions allow. If the London patient stabilizes, investigators may seek a bedside interview via hospital liaison officers.
Kent Police said updates would be issued when a suspect is arrested or when cordons lift. Until then, the helicopter and ground teams will keep sweeping lanes and woodland belts that offer quick routes toward the M26 corridor.
