BenQ launched a 27-inch creator monitor Monday that ships with factory calibration reports and claims 98 percent DCI-P3 coverage, pitching the panel to video editors and photographers who need predictable color without buying a reference-grade display.
The SW2725Q variant, sold first in Taiwan and select Asian markets, pairs a 4K IPS panel with hardware calibration through BenQ’s Palette Master Element software. Each unit includes a paper report from the line’s colorimeter station, a step the company said reduces returns from users who previously tried to self-calibrate with phone apps.
Ports and workflow fit
Inputs include HDMI 2.1, DisplayPort 1.4, and a USB-C port that delivers 90 watts of power for laptops. A built-in KVM switch lets editors toggle between a desktop workstation and a MacBook without replugging keyboards. BenQ also bundles a shading hood for glare-heavy open-plan offices, a accessory that used to be sold separately on older PhotoVue models.
Who competes in this niche
Local retailers said the sweet spot for creator monitors in 2026 sits between NT$20,000 and NT$30,000, where buyers want wide gamut but not the heat and fan noise of some mini-LED gaming panels. Dell and Asus offer rivals with similar gamut claims; BenQ is leaning on its calibration workflow and Mandarin-language support hotlines for post-production houses in Taipei.
Early review units sent to two YouTube channels in Taiwan highlighted uniform backlighting and acceptable delta-E out of the box, though both reviewers noted that HDR peak brightness is modest compared with OLED TVs used on set.
Availability
BenQ said first shipments reach Taipei camera stores and the company’s online shop this week, with broader retail placement after the November shopping season. Warranty coverage includes a pixel policy aligned with local consumer-protection rules, and the firm will host calibration workshops in Taichung for wedding photographers who batch-edit RAW files.
Energy and ergonomics
BenQ rated the panel at 32 watts typical brightness, lower than many mini-LED gaming displays that editors sometimes misuse for color work. The stand offers pivot and height adjustment without a VESA arm, though a 100-by-100 millimeter mount is included for users who prefer monitor arms in editing suites.
Ergonomics consultants working with post houses in Neihu said the 27-inch size fits dual-monitor rows in vans and small suites where 32-inch panels block sight lines.
Software bundle
BenQ includes two years of Palette Master Element updates and a LUT export tool that plugs into DaVinci Resolve and Premiere Pro without extra licensing. Colorists at a Kaohsiung post house said the LUT workflow shaved about fifteen minutes per reel compared with their older manual CSV imports, though they still verify skin tones on a broadcast reference monitor before TX.
