Chase raised the public welcome offer on the United Quest Card to 80,000 bonus miles this month, pairing a richer signup window with higher annual fees and benefit tweaks across the airline’s co-brand lineup.
What changed on the Quest and Explorer
Card trackers logged the Quest bump on October 13, alongside a 70,000-mile offer on the United Explorer Card. Both cards still require $3,000 in purchases within three months of account opening, and Chase continues to advertise an extra 10,000 miles when you add an authorized user in that window.
The increases arrive as Chase finishes a broader United portfolio refresh. The United Club Card now carries a $695 annual fee on new applications, while the Quest remains at $350. If you opened a Quest before the March 2025 repricing, your renewal may still reflect the older $250 fee until your anniversary passes.
Fees and credits to weigh before you apply
Travel bloggers who reviewed the overhaul note that statement credits and lounge access were reshuffled on the premium cards. The Quest still targets travelers who want United club passes and checked-bag perks without paying the Club card’s top-tier fee, but the higher headline bonus effectively discounts the first year for applicants who can meet spend thresholds.
Chase’s disclosures remind applicants that bonus miles post after the spend period closes and can take one to two billing cycles to appear. Transfers to partners outside MileagePlus are not an option on these cards, so the value depends on how you already fly United.
Who benefits—and who should wait
The 80,000-mile offer is aimed at MileagePlus members planning a trip in the next year who can put $3,000 on the card without carrying a balance. If you are still paying down debt at a double-digit APR, the interest cost will swamp the mileage value.
Existing Quest holders are not offered the elevated bonus on the same account. Product-change rules may let you move between United cards, but you typically forfeit a new-member offer in the process. Check Chase’s latest product terms before requesting a switch.
How to compare against other airline cards
American and Delta also adjusted welcome offers and bag-fee credits in October, so run the math on your home airport. A 80,000-mile Quest bonus is worth roughly $960 at United’s recent 1.2-cent valuation for economy awards, before taxes and fees, but only if you can use the miles on routes you actually fly.
Document the offer screenshot and application date. Chase can change bonuses without notice, and disputes are easier when you have the terms that were live when you clicked apply.
Renewal season reminder
Even if you skip a new application, October is a good month to calendar your card anniversary. United cards that added credits in 2026 may require activation in the issuer portal, and missing a renewal date can forfeit a free bag or lounge pass before a holiday trip.
If the new fee outruns the perks you used last year, downgrading before the anniversary posts can avoid another $350 or $695 charge. Chase usually processes downgrades to the Gateway or no-fee United cards if your account is in good standing.
