The role
InfoHandle’s correspondents are spread across the country. The people who edit, ship, and sit the morning meeting work from a San Francisco newsroom. This role is operations, not journalism: badges, conference rooms, the relationship with the building, intern onboarding, and making sure a reporter who flies in for a week has a desk and a badge that works. You will hear news. You will not be asked to write it.
What you will do
- Own the newsroom calendar, visitor log, and conference-room book.
- Coordinate with the building, IT vendor, and cleaning crew; escalate what is broken the same day.
- Onboard employees and interns: accounts, hardware, keys, and a one-page who-does-what.
- Track invoices for travel, transcription, photography, and office supply against a simple budget.
- Support recruiting logistics: schedule, rooms, and the packet candidates receive.
- Be the in-office contact Monday through Friday. This role is not hybrid.
What you bring
- Three or more years in office operations, people operations, or newsroom administration.
- Comfort with spreadsheets, calendars, and vendors who need a follow-up.
- Discretion. You will see personnel paperwork and unpublished stories on screens.
- Ability to work on-site in San Francisco, Monday through Friday, Pacific hours.
- Authorization to work in the United States. We cannot sponsor a visa for this role.
Helpful, not required
- Experience in a newsroom, magazine, or other deadline workplace.
- A California notary commission, or willingness to get one.
Pay and benefits
California requires a pay range on this posting. For this role in San Francisco, base pay is $72,000–$92,000 a year. The offer depends on experience and the scope of the work.
Full-time roles also include:
- Medical, dental, and vision coverage, with InfoHandle covering the majority of the employee premium
- A 401(k) with a 3% match after 90 days
- Commuter benefits for Muni, BART, Caltrain, and ferry
- Fifteen days of paid time off in the first year, plus paid California holidays and a newsroom shutdown between Christmas and New Year’s
- Paid parental leave
- A $1,000 annual professional-development stipend (conferences, language study, or a reporting trip your editor signs off on)
