UK Finance said seven lenders — Barclays, HSBC UK, Lloyds, Monzo, Nationwide, NatWest and Santander — completed the first live customer transactions in tokenised sterling on 24 September, moving money between banks for two remortgage completions and a simulated marketplace purchase on shared blockchain rails.

Nationwide Reprices Two-Year Fixed Deals as Sterling Swap Curve Tracks Gilt Spike
The ten-year gilt yield spiked to 5.29 per cent this week and Nationwide has repriced its fixed range twice this month, the second round adding as much as 0.30 percentage points. Moneyfacts puts the average two-year fix at 5.92 per cent against 4.75 per cent for the cheapest widely available deal — on a £250,000 mortgage over 25 years that gap is about £173 a month.
